Program Learning Outcomes: Upon completion of this program, students will demonstrate techniques to accomplish drawings utilizing different computer aided design (CAD) software develop a portfolio of their work (this portfolio will show the students best work from different classes within the department, discuss building construction techniques, principles, and building code) demonstrate skills in the production of working drawings of residential and commercial structures and discuss how design/drawing techniques, application of the International Building Code (IBC), building construction techniques, and other standards affect the design of their structure.
Students must complete the required courses for a total of 42 - 46 units. Students will receive training in traditional and computer aided drafting, residential and commercial building design, interior design, building codes, and print reading. This degree or certificate is designed to prepare students to enter employment as an architectural drafter and designer in the building construction field, permit technician, and interior designer.
